Los Angeles World Airports is a unique system of three airports owned
and operated by the City of Los Angeles. Each of the airports – Los Angeles
International (LAX), LA/Ontario International (ONT), and Van Nuys (VNY) plays an

LA Animal Services cares for more than 57,000 lost and homeless pets
each year and more than 7,000 wild, exotic, and farm animals. Comprised
of six shelters in the greater Los Angeles area, LA Animal Services promotes
and protects the health, safety and welfare of animals and people in the city
of Los Angeles.

The Department of Building and Safety protects the lives and safety of the
residents and visitors of Los Angeles, preserves the City’s quality of life, and
contributes to the City’s economic development. This is accomplished through
implementation of the Zoning, Building, Plumbing, Mechanical, and Electrical
Codes, as well as Engineering, Energy, and Disabled Access regulations, and
local and State laws for construction and maintenance of commercial, industrial,
and residential buildings.

The Commission on Community and Family Services acts in an advisory
capacity to the City of Los Angeles on policy and issues of poverty, needs,
concerns, and interests of children or youth, and their families. They coordinate
with relevant city departments and non-city governmental agencies, nonprofit
agencies, academia and philanthropy to create an expanded integrated and
collaborative human service delivery system that will place children and their
families on a pathway out of poverty and into self-sufficiency.
